Draft National Health Research Policy

Ministry of Health, was the apex organization responsible for guiding, supporting
and conducting medical research in the country. In 2007, it put in place a Health
Research Policy after wide consultations. Based on the recommendations of
various Committees, Governing Body of the ICMR, Performance Appraisal Board
of the ICMR (2005), the Department of Health Research (DHR) became a reality
in October 2007. The Department has now drafted a National Health Research
Policy which aims to provide for evidence based programmes.
