The Homeland: Thinking About the History of Chinese Overseas

If there is such a single history, how does it square with the fact that migration has brought Chinese into numerous non-Chinese societies, where their “history” is being diffracted into the separate histories of their host societies? Any attempt to write “a history” of Chinese host will arouse some understandable skepticism.
