The Human Rights of Stateless Rohingya in Thailand
Published By: The Equal Rights Trust | Published Date: February, 01 , 2014The Rohingya are an ethno-religious minority group from the Rakhine region, which today is encompassed within the borders of Myanmar and is adjacent to Bangladesh. The majority of Rohingya in Myanmar today are stateless, having been arbitrarily deprived of their nationality in 1982. The Rohingyas are regarded as one of the most persecuted minorities in the world. This report approaches the plight of the Rohingya community from the human rights perspective, and seeks to advocate for the protection of their rights, and the need for a collective commitment to their protection from states across Southeast Asia.
