Maharashtra has been a leading state in the context of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). The Maharashtra social security budget thus has to be seen in this context and there is a greater need to provide near universal and quality services to people of Maharashtra. The HDI has to be higher day by day in this economically rich state.
When it comes to PDS, there are other states which are much lower in NSDGP than Maharashtra yet have been allocating much higher state budget for PDS.
