An Overview of Process of Integration and Cooperation in South Asia Issues in Trade and Transport Facilitation
There are mixture problems which have come as the hindrance towards regional trade facilitation. In adequate transport infrastructure is one of them. As the transport facilitation-amongst others- has a great role to play in regional integration process. Thus, considering the importance of regional cooperation in the region not only as the panacea of regional conflicts, the current paper will examine current transport infrastructure problems and its associated issues for trade facilitation as well as trade integration process in the region . As we know that transport cost has a major role to play in facilitating trade and eventually economic development. Further the sector has direct effect on trade competitiveness due to its role in cost, transit time and reliability for trade and commerce. A summit of SAARC in Islamabad was held in 2004 advocating initiatives for transport integration in South Asia.
