The South China Sea Ruling: What Now for China?

In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 14 of the Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Cess Act, 1996 (Act 8 of 1996). China has chosen not to take part in the arbitral tribunal brought against it by the Philippines. Hence, now that the tribunal has issued its ruling, China should stay away from commenting on the case and instead offer concrete plans for functional cooperation in the South China Sea.
