A Comparative Study on Private Consumption Expenditure Estimates in India

Factors attributed to the differences include coverage, reference time frames and concepts and methods of estimation in the very approaches employed by the two agencies. The present paper is a survey to explore into the widening gap of these estimates at group level based on the studies by Minhas et. al. (1986), Minhas (1988), Minhas et. al. (1990) and NSSO-CSO (2005).
