Will Russia win the ‘Gas War’?

Gazprom has been supplying gas to these countries at heavily subsidized rates and wants now to take advantage of the rising energy prices. How will Russia reconcile Gazprom’s ambitions and yet prevent these countries from forging economic alliances with the rest of Europe that would affect its political and economic hegemony in the region?
