Combating Youth Unemployment in India

This study discusses in depth the youth unemployment "problem" in India and the reasons behind it. Despite its demographic dividend and increased literacy levels, India faces youth unemployment as a major challenge for labour market policy. This paper examines the various policy responses to it and emphasizes the need for proper social security system and adequate vocational training avenues for young people, with active cooperation among different national and international labour market actors (trade unions, vocational training organisations, committees at the national level)
