World Youth Report 2007 Young People’s Transition to Adulthood: Progress and Challenges

The Report highlights the unique aspects of youth development in various regions but emphasizes that young people the world over are ultimately constrained in their efforts to contribute to their own development and that of their communities by the absence of adequate opportunities to participate fully in the broader process of development. Priority must be given to enhancing the role of youth in all areas of social and economic development; this not only benefits young people themselves, but also fosters a sense of community and promotes national and international development. In drawing attention to the obstacles and opportunities young people encounter in all regions of the world, this Report effectively lays the groundwork for identifying and designing policy interventions that will offer youth the chance to be seen and heard.
