Indian Science Today: An Indigenously Crafted Crisis

The article discusses science education and scientific research within the nation of India. It is attested that the country has established numerous commissions, committees, and learned panels intended to oversee science education and scientific research, yet both of these fields have deteriorated in quality. Using a report commissioned by the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), the author examines problems facing science in India, particularly focusing upon colleges and universities. A history of the nation is provided, beginning in 1850 and progressing to the year 2011. The potential future of the country is also discussed.
