As the UN Human Rights Council holds its 29th session from 15th June 2015 to 3 July 2015, it ought to adopt a resolution on the deplorable human rights situation in Maldives as a consequence of the singular aim of President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) to sentence key political opponents to long term imprisonment and disqualify them as candidates in the 2018 Presidential elections.
