Play the Game conference on Sports and Media, 2007, Reykjavik, Iceland

Pre-conference note

Play the Game, an Denmark based organisation working on sports issues internationally is holding its annual conference in Reykjavik. From 28 October to 2 November 2007, hundreds of leading media professionals, academics, and officials in world sport will meet in Reykjavik to discuss corruption, doping, political abuse, changing lifestyles and a number of other challenges to modern sport. This year's theme is: Creating coalitions for good governance in sport . The conference will be inaugurated by the Icelandic President, Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, who is also on the board for the Special Olympics and is active in fighting doping in Iceland and worldwide. The confrence sub-themes are: The autonomy of sport: Threat or promise? Children in sport: Love or labour? Mega-events: Frontrunners for sports globalisation? Chasing clients or providers: Anti-doping at a crossroad The digital battle: Sport on demand versus the demands of sports.
